Finally finished. This was amazing. It has a Starseed Pilgrim feel to it, although it’s a completely different beast.
First a couple random levels, then a map, then secret passwords, then a map with a specific goal, it’s like you can feel the game growing as you play it.
This is amazing. So much more vast (and rewarding) than you might at first gather.
(I’m still struggling at what I thought was probably the midway point…until finding the Rewards dream and seeing that I may be as little as 10% through?)
The icons on two signposts on a particular screen turn out to line up with those found in the Controls room/dream. Will there be immediate feedback in that room if I follow their instructions correctly or do I have to assign the (awkward) key bindings and then travel back to that original room? (My other hypothosis is that only the signpost on the right is a code, and the other just indicates they need to be assigned in reverse?)
Changing your controls is how to progress past those glyphs. I don’t remember any immediate feedback upon changing them, so I only know that navigating back to that dream via the overworld with the new controls opens up the door corresponding to that control scheme. (I don’t know if your other method works, since navigating the overworld is still a struggle for me, even after getting a few useful movement upgrades.)
I never tried it, but the reverse hypothesis seems too crazy. Rest assured, any such signpost is a door that’ll open/appear when the control scheme is right. And yes, the Void has two such doors.
One thing I found out, or I think I did, is that those doors seem optional. I drew a map early on so I found many available levels through exploration, and by the point I figured the signposts out, I believe they all took me to levels I already knew.
Thanks, you two! Exactly enough to get me to dive back in. (The idea of tracking down where that signpost room is again after making the necessary adjustments felt like too much without knowing it would work.)
Yes, finally someone posted this. This is fantastic.

I think I might like a small hint, if someone might be obliged, since testing this hypothesis might take more time than I can give this right now?

This is one of the best of the year so far (IMHO).
