That was beautiful. At first, my instincts told me to avoid all the people who were not part of my group.
I thought the same thing, that they were trying to steal my buddies.
It’s been amusing to see how many people have that reaction initially. I never expected it.
I thought this was very poorly designed. The core mechanic is sort of going in a really neat direction, though I’m not really sure how I feel about the message – one person leading lots of others around to find love? Each person has exactly one soulmate?
Anyway, the message aside, it’s just too long. After the first 45 seconds, you learn nothing new, and are only holding out for the ending to be “worth it” as the author promises – but instead the ending is exactly the predictable thing, with nothing extra or surprising or perspective-altering.
While I guess I’m glad I experienced the core mechanic, since it at least made me think, being forced to engage with it for so long for no particular reason would have been frustrating even if there had been a reward at the end.
Sorry that the game wasn’t to your taste. With that said I actually agree with you that the game is too long especially towards the end where it becomes a bit of a slog. While making it I played around with different crowd sizes as well as the number of followers to try and adjust the length to something acceptable but in retrospect I probably should have just made the play field smaller and kept the density of people the same. What you may find interesting is that while you may have predicted the ending plenty of other people who have played it thought it would end the other way around and were surprised by the ending.

This was really fun to do and at first i didn’t know what to do and was just walking around to the point i saw people do stuff. Then i knew what to do!
