  1. Ooh, this isn’t ultimately all that taxing, but it’s fun to be presented with a whole new puzzle-type to think through, to figure out solving-processes, etc.

I don’t see any way to make truly more advanced puzzles under this ruleset, but I wonder if it might be feasible to make a variant in which some of the colors are unknown as well. Without thinking it all the way through, it seems it might allow the sort of branching feasible paths that more advanced picross/slitherlink/nurikabe/etc. puzzles require.

    • Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when it was over. Even as it stands, it’d be right at home with some of the best Nikoli puzzles.

  2. The ruleset presented is too limiting to make any interesting puzzles. That is, the algorithm for solving any puzzle is too simple. Specifically, since the 1’s and 6’s don’t interact with other numbers in any meaningful way (they don’t inform where others can or cannot go, they can’t be in a spot where another number could be, etc.), you can just figure out where they all go without paying attention to the other numbers. Then do the same for the 2’s and 5’s, and then the 3’s and 4’s.

Hiding some colors might be interesting, but I worry that every instance of hiding a color that doesn’t allow for multiple solutions will be too easy to get past.

  3. Pretty novel puzzle idea.
