This was my first Ludum Dare ever, and I got to say it was fun! – [Author’s Description]
I like this, but after the second or third level it’s unclear if there’s ultimately much…meatiness to the system.
(Interface changes could really help bring some parity between the time spent deciding on a move and the amount of interesting thought it takes to do that: color code the text on the left; mouse-over enemies for stats — or, even better, add an always-on icon showing their weaknesses and HP; click to drop items)
At least for the first three levels, ideal strategy seems to be to clear out one color of enemy and then ditch any equipment of that color, which pretty quickly became rote. Does it get trickier if you stick with it? (The pattern seems to involve just more colors in play per level.)
I didn’t stay with it for too long – maybe didn’t even play past level 3. I got enough of a kick out of it to post it, though.
