Get Lost (Tom Bombadil’s Software Emporium & House of Curiosities)

Get Lost! was a computer game that was produced by Tom Bombadil’s Software Emporium & House of Curiosities late in 1996. The game was a product of one programmer, three artists, five level designers, and a lot of sweat and tears (no blood–it’s a computer game, not football!).

While we were all very pleased with the game we made, we failed to market it well. Consequently, it was a market failure, despite being nominated for Shareware Game of the Year in 1997.

But that’s long in the past. Here’s the full version of the game, with all the typos and out-of-date information along with it. Play it, enjoy it, hate it, spread it around to anyone you like. I only ask that you keep everything intact in its original zip file.[Author’s Description]

  1. Had such a nostaligasm when I came across this today. I played it once randomly off a shareware CD when I was a kid, then forgot the name of it and was never able to find it again. I’d built it up in my head as something very special.

While I don’t think the game quite holds up to what I’d half imagined it to be, there are a lot of cool things about it.

  2. Holy crap. I’ve looked for a way to get the full version of this on more than one occasion for the very same reasons. I’m looking forward to diving back into it.

  3. maze 10 – the great wall – is my favorite so far.

  4. So…is there a secret in EVERY level? Because that’s a bit of a terrifying thought.

    • Well, yes, and if you get enough secrets, there are secret levels with more secrets in them.
