Star Leaf (Spencer Hewlett, Mushbuh)

Star leaf is a walk around my brain. It is a surreal and strange top down adventure game.
Controls: Arrow keys move, Z uses the carrot, X talks to dudes, ESC to quit.

  1. This is a really fun and cute game. Definitely very earthboundish, except without the rpg battling (most of the time). Very nice game

  2. Finished it with both endings (thanks to a last minute save point) and had to say “well, that happened.” Not sure I’m a better person for having played it, but at least it had the courtesy to call me a cab at that one point.

  3. One of the things I’ve noticed in games with two endings like this (i.e. they branch at the end) is that the lack of a credits sequence in one end makes you feel it’s the “wrong” ending. In that way, it reduces its legitimacy, sort of like a more elaborate “game over” screen. I felt that here.

    Not that it’s a bad thing, necessarily…just that I think that it’s “a thing”.

Happy frog and sad elephant were my favourites. It looked like the game was going to be about friendship, which it sort of was, but then sort of wasn’t. I am glad it exists.

  4. Ahh, this is so good! Love the dialogs.
