  1. terrifying

  2. I feel my interest in the game is considerably less than my interest in the possible existence of a guide to solve it, or an explanation as to why it can’t be solved. Great stuff nonetheless.

  3. Is the goal to make just one line? Or can it be actually solved?

  4. I’m pretty sure you can’t make a line. Here’s a proof, I think?

Every piece, no matter its orientation, adds 0, 2, 5, or 6 blocks to a given row. However, you can’t ever add an odd number of 5s to a row without leaving some gaps, because of the way the tiles work. (This is pretty hand-wavy, but it should be convincing if you draw the right picture; the gap in the 5 case can only be filled by another 5.) Therefore, the total number of blocks in any row without gaps is always even.

…but the rows are 21 spaces across, so they can’t be filled.

    • Actually, scratch that. You can fill the gap with a 2 if you have the right blocks lying underneath. In fact, if you allow pieces to levitate then the puzzle is perfectly solvable, so any proof should rely on how things fall somehow.

  5. the problem is that you cant move a block twice to the side, while it falls one square down

  6. I’ve managed to make a line, but beyond the one, no idea.
