  1. Wow, this game is clever. At first it seemed like an unimpressive Missile Command clone on a spherical playfield, but around level 10 I felt my understanding transform from one of violently slashing the red lines to building a safe nest for the growing egg. I wish I would have screen recorded the session, there was one play where it looked like a time-lapse video of the construction of Beijing Nation Stadium but ALACK! breach on the Southern wall! As if alive, the steel spaghetti hole shrank and disappeared under my high speed construction orders.

One thing that was a little baffling was the “COIN SCATTER” powerup. When everything is on the line (as it often is in this game), the powerups for the most part add drama. Through either a throbbing, rainbow last gasp of growth (ideally in the endgame) — a cheesy yet effective slowdown — or a supernatural burst of matter-generating construction. However, why on earth would money matter when performing the ultimate rescue? It reminded me of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 2017, wherein the Earth is under attack from renegade ant creatures, buildings are falling, citizens are screaming, and one of your squadmates casually mentions “Hey, let’s grab a bite to eat after this.”

Anyways, this is pretty perfectly suited to a touchscreen I’d like to see how it plays on an iPad. Would it be as interesting without the CTS symptoms?

  2. Forgot to mention I beat it in 25:23, going the BASE REGENERATION tech tree.
