  1. I like the idea, but it ends up being a lot of trial and error more than anything else.

    • …though less so, I think, than the series of Grow games, of which this pretty much shares the same game-type.

      • Yeah, but with Grow you’re still getting these strange interactions when you’re wrong (and, sometimes, some valuable feedback about what you need to do.) My chief complaint here is that experimentation is asked from the player, but when you’re wrong, you just have to retry and go again. There is no joy in failure, which would make a game like this feel less tedious.

        • That’s a totally good point, that the Grow games give you significantly more of a reward for experimentation/failure. A counterpoint might be that here — unlike with the Grow games — you have a good likelihood of succeeding on your second full playthrough, once you’ve worked out what each party-member’s characteristics are and what will be required by the end-boss. (To me the Grow games are lovely in their whimsy, but also whimsically opaque, but that’s probably my own failing.)

          • This was a lot of fun. I too find the Grow games (as cool as they are) opaque. The selections in Sacrifice make more sense to me than some of the choices in Grow.

  2. I’m stuck in that screen with the green cascade. Do you know what to do?

  3. Cool. Maybe the text would help, but a lot of it seems fairly intuitive, if you just guess what a character’s strengths are likely to be. Neat idea.

Actually sort of reminds me of some of the choices in the final mission of Mass Effect 2.

  4. I thought I’d like this more at first, but the fact that it ends up being so unrewardingly trial and error just kind of taints it.

  5. i think i ran into a glitch on the green cascade level. i keep using the ninja to turn it off, he dies, the rest of the team makes it across safely, then i get a “die uselessly” screen. wtf

    • Yeah, same thing keeps happening to me.

    • It is just that you do not have the right composition for beating the next level (i think)

      Here is my solution
