You can lose anyone in your party without consequence provided they’ve already got the thing that they get. Keep playing it until you learn all the combinations and win.

Moon: Cat leaves, Chappel gets cheese.
Whale: Obed leaves. Coffin gets sausage.
Beach: Coffin leaves, Obed gets sandwich.
Mermaid: Chappel leaves, Jonah gets music.
