I really like monster RPGs / JRPGs, structurally, as a genre, but I quickly lose patience for how repetitive the levels and dungeons are. In puzzle games we talk about “filler puzzles” — it could be said that this game is just made of “filler battles.”
Then again, these kinds of browser games are MEANT to waste time and last a long time with repetitive actions, so I guess I’m upset about an apple not being an orange?
Mmm. I remember playing Bloons tower defense in high school. Hundreds of virtually identical levels. Respecting my time would not have seemed like a virtue.
I really dislike repetitive games as well, and have no time for this stuff normally. I do regret posting it a little, it’s not the sort of game I’d recommend to people, but I felt ok posting it at the time -
pokemon-style games would be really cool if they were ever designed by someone whose first concern wasnt monetization
