  1. Wow, I was just writing about this! This game’s great! A one-button masterpiece, in its post-competition version.

  2. has anybody figured out how to reach the second door in the second last level? (the one in the screenshot)

    • Love the setup. So much more compelling than rescuing a damsel in distress.

I’m pretty sure that exit was left in as an oversight. I tried to jump over the first exit, still exited. Ran into the door, exited (obviously). I even tried jumping into the little spot above the first gun to bounce back towards the other wall to see if there was an invisible ladder or something, but alas, nothing.

  3. This is really good, but I’m tempted to say that some of the levels might suffer from a bit of guess-the-developer’s-intentions? (Particularly the level prior to the one pictured, with the staircase of springs.)

But maybe that’s incorrect, since with the enemy behavior completely deterministic, you can see that you’ve reached a spot too early or too late and then think through how you can change your timing earlier in the level. (As a simple case in point, an earlier level gave me trouble because I was in the habit of jumping to ladders and the level timing only works out if you walk all the way to the bottom of one particular ladder; at the time I took that as a flaw in the game system, but now I see that the player is indeed given all s/he needs to suss out the timing issues. In retrospect, that’s neat — though I think I’d still say the level with the staircase of springs is a bit more finicky than it’s worth.)

    • Yeah, there are definitely a few moments like that. This isn’t the first one-button platformer I’ve played, but it’s the first one that didn’t piss me off as much. I think it’s, like you said, deterministic. Being able to control timing with jumps on ladders helps a lot.
