Street Song (Santa Ragione)

[Play online (Unity)]

  1. I barely know what’s happening, but it feels like too much map and not enough going on. I don’t think I’m missing anything, but.. :?:

    • Spoilers and all that:

The basic idea is to collect the gems – collecting gems increases your health, and also gives you new items, which you can select by clicking on the right panels before heading off. The one that you want is the raven thingy, which causes guides to appear in the sky to direct you to the nearby gems.

However, I had trouble following the guides, and got annoyed because the game doesn’t save progress, so … I don’t know what happens if you get more gems/items (the last item I got was the chair).

I really like the idea that there’s a set track unfolding on front of you and you still have choice of where to go. Free-roaming and on rails at the same time.

      • Agreed. I got just as far as you did the first time; that’s when I had the realization “hmm, I think I’m bored.”

It’s a great idea (rails vs. roam); there’s something very awesome in here somewhere. It’s like I’m seeing the gem of a genuinely smart or new (to me) idea and am now frustrated with the lack of *something*.

        Ah well.

  2. I loved it. Very relaxing way to start my day.
My only gripe with the gameplay is the lack of feedback, but then again it was nice not having my hand held.

  3. I honestly really love the idea of being thrown into a strange, alien environment and having to spend time learning the rules of the game world through observation and experimentation.

It’s a very “Myst” sort of design aesthetic that lends a sense of freedom that’s missing from most (if not all) open world type games. I think it really works well with the minimalist visual style and super streamlined gameplay.

It’s basically pretty great. Thumbs up.

  4. Justin: I’m assuming since you’re here you’re familiar with increpares games? Many of them are like those alien places you described.

  5. It’s basically what Increpare says, but I would’ve never made it without someone explaining it to me. You go to the locations you see, in most of them there’s this black things (the “gems”, they’re not the lethal diamonds) that increase your maximum health (fully restored every time you stop) and, when you collect a few, give you items.

You can select items on the two sidescreens before you start running/skying/driving/flying (clicking on a screen changes the item it shows, so you can select two items max, one per right panel). They surely affect gameplay, but I only understood the raven, that makes some guides appear above your head while you play. They’re black lines that point to the nearest black thingy. They help a lot. (I thing one of the items makes the credits appear.)

When you collect all 30 black things the guidelines start pointing towards a strange temple-like green construction that’s the closest thing to an ending I actually saw.

  6. Yep that’s actually the closest thing to an ending, thank you everyone for playing!
