This is neat. It took me a while on the fourth or so screen to see that the ‘barrels’ are initially present but not visible or manipulable unless a specific step is taken. (I spent a while thinking it was a bug.)
I had thought I’d figured out the spider screen, but I must still be missing something. Is safely activating the corners not enough now?
It’s not enough, there’s something else you need to do.
Slight spoiler: the solution kind of violates the way the illumination has been set up to work so far, but that’s all I’ll say.
